Monday: Students will complete their 25 question review quiz to share with their classmates as we prepare for Tuesday's Chapter 12 test. The questions will be posted to a spreadsheet and students will take each other's test and record their scores. We will also play review basketball as a class.
Tuesday: Test over Chapter 12. Students will spend the first half of class reviewing on the computer practice test before taking the test.

Google Classroom and students will fill in missing information from the text. This week's schedule will change because of statewide testing so each class will move through the chapter and questions as we can together. We will put answers in the clickers later this week after we have worked through the chapter and eventually have a test over the material after we review, tentatively scheduled for Friday but may be moved to next week if necessary.

Monday: Students will correct any deficiencies on tests by getting correct version, writing question and corrected answer on notebook paper, and receive an 80 percent or greater on the computerized test. Students who do not have to reassess will complete a slideshow on Quizlet and create a crossword puzzle on Discoveryeducation.com as a means of learning another set of study tools.

Wednesday and Thursday students will complete questions from the chapter on the clickers and then correct answers with a partner - this activity may change depending upon when we complete the sections from the book. We will also watch a few videos related to choosing stocks and playing the game, which were distributed during a training session attended Jan. 12.
Friday: Students will complete a written assessment on Google Classroom covering vocabulary and information obtained during the lessons visited through the week. This will be a summative assessment.
Students who did not do well on Friday's test will retake the test during ELT as a reassessment.

Tuesday - Counselor visits
Wednesday - Friday: Students will be completing two lessons on the Stock Market Game in preparation for the Georgia Economic Council's 10-week simulation activity. Teachers from LaFayette Middle recently attended a training session in order to play the game, which kicks off Jan. 31, 2017 when students will compete with other schools in Georgia and across the United States.
This week students will learn about the stock market, will create teams of three to compete against others, and take the first steps in picking companies in which to invest $100,000 in virtual funds.

Monday through Thursday:
New vocabulary words written on notebook paper. Words/definitions available on Quizlet. Differentiation: Words and definitions will be displayed on Smartboard and read aloud. Students will add List 9 to their vocabulary section of notebook.
This week we are continuing Unit 2 which covers the rest of Asia. We are working on Chapters 26 and 27 in the textbook.
Thursday (or sooner if possible) a practice test will be placed online that students can access to prepare for the test. If technology is available we will designate class time to practice individually, with academic partners, in small groups and as a class to practice testing.
Closing each day will be review games revolving around new and previous vocabulary words, geography terms, facts, and locations, as well as material covered in class.
Differentiation: Students who miss any chapter questions will correct answers with teacher. Chapter questions are formative assessments used to gauge how students are accomplishing their goals of learning new material. Direct instruction strategies will be used.
Friday: Test over vocabulary (cumulative covering Lists 1-9) and Chapter 26 and 27. Chapter tests are summative in nature and show how students are accomplishing their goals of learning new material.
After test we will read articles in Scholastic magazine together.
This week we will be covering standards:
SS7G11 The student will explain the impact of location, climate, physical characteristics, distribution of natural resources, and population distribution on Southern and Eastern Asia.
a. Describe the impact climate and location has on population distribution in Southern and Eastern Asia.
b. Describe how the mountain, desert, and water features of Southern and Eastern Asia have affected the population in terms of where people live, the types of work they do, and how they travel.
SS7G12 The student will analyze the diverse cultures of the people who live in Southern and Eastern Asia.
a. Explain the differences between an ethnic group and a religious group.
b. Compare and contrast the prominent religions in Southern and Eastern Asia: Buddhism,
Hinduism, Islam, Shintoism and the philosophy of Confucianism. c. Evaluate how the literacy rate affects the standard of living.
