Chapter 30/31 Notes and Questions are here.
Opening each day:
CNN News
Work Period:
Monday through Thursday:
New vocabulary words written on notebook paper. Words/definitions available on Quizlet. Differentiation: Words and definitions will be displayed on Smartboard and read aloud. Students will add List 12 to their vocabulary section of notebook.
This week we are working on Chapters 30 and possibly 31 in the textbook. Each day students will take turns reading a section of the chapter and we will take notes together on the Smartboard.
Thursday (or sooner if possible) a practice test will be placed online that students can access to prepare for the test. If technology is available we will designate class time to practice individually, with academic partners, in small groups and as a class to practice testing.
Closing each day will be review games revolving around new and previous vocabulary words, geography terms, facts, and locations, as well as material covered in class.
Differentiation: Students who miss any chapter questions will correct answers with teacher. Chapter questions are formative assessments used to gauge how students are accomplishing their goals of learning new material. Direct instruction strategies will be used.
Friday: Test over vocabulary (cumulative covering Lists 1-12) and Chapter 30-31, though this may be adjusted depending upon the speed at which we move through the chapter.. Chapter tests are summative in nature and show how students are accomplishing their goals of learning new material.
After the test we will read articles in Scholastic magazine together.
