Monday through Thursday:
New vocabulary words written on notebook paper. Words/definitions available on Quizlet. Differentiation: Words and definitions will be displayed on Smartboard and read aloud. Students will add List 8 to their vocabulary section of notebook.
This week we are starting Unit 2 which covers the rest of Asia. We will begin with Chapter 24 in the textbook and label a map with all of the locations in our standards. We will also read and take notes about the physical features and political boundaries in this new section of the world we start studying this week.
Thursday (or sooner if possible) a practice test will be placed online that students can access to prepare for the test. If technology is available we will designate class time to practice individually, with academic partners, in small groups and as a class to practice testing.
Closing each day will be review games revolving around new and previous vocabulary words, geography terms, facts, and locations, as well as material covered in class.
Differentiation: Students who miss any chapter questions will correct answers with teacher. Chapter questions are formative assessments used to gauge how students are accomplishing their goals of learning new material.
Friday: Test over vocabulary (cumulative covering Lists 1-8) and Chapter 24. Chapter tests are formative in nature and show how students are accomplishing their goals of learning new material.
After test we will read articles in Scholastic magazine together.
This week we will be covering standards:
SS7G9 The student will locate selected features in Southern and Eastern Asia.
a. Locate on a world and regional political-physical map: Ganges River, Huang He (Yellow River), Indus River, Mekong River, Yangtze (Chang Jiang) River, Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean, Sea of Japan, South China Sea, Yellow Sea, Gobi Desert , Taklimakan Desert, Himalayan Mountains, and Korean Peninsula.
b. Locate on a world and regional political-physical map the countries of China, India, Indonesia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, and Vietnam.
