Opening each day:

Work Period:
Monday:
Shortened period due to school event. Students spent two days using the iPads to complete a web quest last week and today it will be checked for a formative grade and then corrected (if necessary) as the class goes over the sheet. See links below for more information and last week's entry for the blank worksheet.
Tuesday through Thursday:
New vocabulary words written on notebook paper. Words/definitions available on Quizlet. Differentiation: Words and definitions will be displayed on Smartboard and read aloud. Students will add List 10 to their vocabulary section of notebook.
This week we are working on Chapters 27 in the textbook. Each day students will take turns reading a section of the chapter and we will take notes together on the Smartboard.
Thursday (or sooner if possible) a practice test will be placed online that students can access to prepare for the test. If technology is available we will designate class time to practice individually, with academic partners, in small groups and as a class to practice testing.
Closing each day will be review games revolving around new and previous vocabulary words, geography terms, facts, and locations, as well as material covered in class.
Differentiation: Students who miss any chapter questions will correct answers with teacher. Chapter questions are formative assessments used to gauge how students are accomplishing their goals of learning new material. Direct instruction strategies will be used.
Friday: Test over vocabulary (cumulative covering Lists 1-10) and Chapter 27. Chapter tests are summative in nature and show how students are accomplishing their goals of learning new material.
After the test we will read articles in Scholastic magazine together.
This week we will be covering standards:

SS7G12 The student will analyze the diverse cultures of the people who live in Southern and Eastern Asia.
a. Explain the differences between an ethnic group and a religious group.
b. Compare and contrast the prominent religions in Southern and Eastern Asia: Buddhism,
Hinduism, Islam, Shintoism and the philosophy of Confucianism. c. Evaluate how the literacy rate affects the standard of living.
