Opening each day:

Wednesday and Friday:
This short week will be working on geography of Africa, the final area of the world for our studies this year. Students will identify both countries and physical features on a map, work from an atlas to develop deeper understanding of the region, and playing games to help memorize where everything is located.
Students will continue working on group projects and present them to class on Friday.
Closing each day will be review games revolving around new and previous vocabulary words, geography terms, facts, and locations, as well as material covered in class.
Differentiation: Students who miss any chapter questions will correct answers with teacher. Chapter questions are formative assessments used to gauge how students are accomplishing their goals of learning new material. Direct instruction strategies will be used. Students will review individually and with academic partners.
When students begin group projects they will be grouped with academic partners. Assessments this week will be formative in nature.
This week we will be covering standards:SS7G1 The student will locate selected features of Africa.
a. Locate on a world and regional political-physical map: the Sahara, Sahel, savanna, tropical rain forest, Congo River, Niger River, Nile River, Lake Tanganyika, Lake Victoria, Atlas Mountains, and Kalahari Desert.
b. Locate on a world and regional political-physical map the countries of Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire), Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan, and South Sudan.
